#51 of 100 - HT BioImaging
No. 51 of #100israelistartups is HT BioImaging.
Israeli start-up HT BioImaging is a revolutionary patented medical imaging Startup. Their goal is to detect and classify cancer early and at the point of testing.
One of the main health challenges in the world today is cancer, with the number of cases constantly rising. Approximately 40% of American men and women will be diagnosed with cancer at some point during their lifetimes, while globally, 45% of patients do not survive, most of them due to late detention and misdiagnosis.
Early detection is key to saving lives, as immediate and localised treatment can be administered as soon as the cancer is detected. For this to happen, medical imaging systems must be accurate, cost-effective and available at the point of care,
HT BioImaging is doing just that.
The company has developed the HTScan – a disruptive system to measure heat diffusion in biological tissues. This new medical imaging technology translates the heat diffusion signal into an image to enable early detection of cancer in a non-invasive and real-time procedure at the point of care.
The HT BioImaging system utilizes smart algorithms that are based on signal analysis, computer vision and artificial intelligence to create a new medical imaging modality that will be used in every community clinic and OR.
The company is launching its Veterinary imaging solution in early 2021, while simultaneously working on the FDA approval for human trails.
The company has recently announced a Pilot Study with The University of California Davis team, led by Michael Kent. As part of the research, the company's veterinary product will be validated with the aim of disrupting the cancer detection market for pets.
A Personal Tragedy
The story of HT BioImaging began with a personal tragedy when Co-founder & CEO Shani Toledano's father was diagnosed with late-stage cancer at 56 years old. 9 months later, he passed away. At that time, Shani was completing her BSc degree in mechanical engineering and shared her thoughts on heat transfer and thermodynamics with lecturers Dr. Moshe Tshuva and Dr. Sharon Gat. She recognized the need for safe and effective imaging tools. Shani spent the next 2 years researching her hypothesis and once she had established a level of confidence that this new technology could detect cancer with high accuracy, Shani turned to Gideon Barak to join the initiative to create a company and raise funds.
Shani Toledano, Co-Founder and CEO told us:
"Early testing saves lives, it really is that simple and important. Our system utilizes smart algorithms to create a new imaging methodology that will be used to detect many types of malignancies that currently do not have early detection procedures and improving on existing, problematic screening methods. The medical paradigm is moving away from simple treatment and more toward early diagnosis and monitoring. HT BioImaging are aiming to be at the forefront of this
shift in cancer diagnosis, monitoring and treatment."
2Scots is delighted to support HT BioImaging as part of our #100israelistartups initiative and wish Shani, Gideon and all the team huge success as they aim to save millions of lives in the coming years.
