#56 of 100 - Bio-Fence
No. 56 of #100israelistartups is Bio-Fence.
The last year has taught us that surfaces are a major source of contamination. Viruses and other hazardous Pathogens such as Listeria, Salmonella and Campylobacter thrive and cling stubbornly in our environment, surviving strict sanitation processes and threatening contamination.
Most sensitive of all are hospitals and food manufacturing plants which have direct effect on the population’s health, but the Corona virus pandemic has demonstrated that other environments are important as well
Ensuring clean and sterile environments is now a major goal for government agencies, companies and the population at large.
Enter Israeli start-up Bio-Fence, whose technology turns any surface into a self-disinfecting surface. The company has developed an innovative antimicrobial coating technology that creates immediate and long-lasting bacteria and virus free environments.
Over the last two years, Bio-Fence had been working on research into coatings designed to prevent infection by bacteria such as Listeria and Salmonella in food production environments. The effectiveness of these coatings had been proven in laboratories under International Standard ISO 22196 and in food sites in Israel and worldwide.
With the outbreak of COVID-19, the company decided to test the effectiveness of its the coatings against viruses as well. The test results show that the company’s coating products completely destroy the herpes virus, which is significantly more durable than the Coronavirus.
Raveh Gill-More, Co-Founder & COO told us:
"I believe that with Bio-Fence’s technology we will be able to help society regain some normalcy by maintaining spaces safe from bacteria and viruses.
Our research and development work in this field will help ensure that future global pandemics do not disrupt the world economy as much as COVID-19.”
